Law students at UH have access to professional development tools
The University of Houston Law Center recently announced its plans to give its alumni free, unlimited access to Thomson Reuters West LegalEdcenter, which is the largest web-based CLE and professional development service.
"We are pleased to be the first law school in the country to offer this opportunity to our alumni," said UH Law Center Dean Raymond Nimmer. "This program underscores the law center's continuing commitment to the ongoing success of our graduates."
UH Law Center alumni will have the ability to access the content from anywhere with an internet connection, including devices such as the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. The content available comes from leading CLE providers such as the American Law Institute - American Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
Professional development is needed now more than ever for lawyers, according to Law.com
The website referenced recent statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which showed the law profession lost 3,100 jobs between November 2010 and November 2011.
To address these issues in the profession, a number of law professions convened at the Professional Development Institute to discuss changes in the industry, said the site.
